What was your best spin of 2017 where, when and why
Best spin of 2017?
Easy for me .... our 'open mountain' spin on 9th May was unbelievable. Normal Tues loop was gazumped, as a few weeks dry weather meant Alfie had other ideas. We went up Masseys, to viewpoint, featherbeds & then went "over the top" across bog country to Willies & ravens rock. Then home via Bag o'cips & Robins trail. It was amazing. Great crew out that day too - we were all buzzin.

An official club spin.... It's all blending into one but probably as Vinny said, that dry bog spin along the Dublin Mountains border was class.
Of all of mine 2017 spins it would have to be the one we did with Chris in the Mournes, the trails were just spectacular.

My #timmons Tour de Wicklow, mad to see 20+ people ready for action at 8.30 in the morning in Roundwood, such a cool loop that I spent ages planning, what a buzz to get everyone around and back for grub and laughs in the Coach house. A day to remember for me.....
Considering I only went on about 4 or 5 all year, the best was on Sunday June 11th where I was shown the trails in Cruagh and Pineforest and then bought cake for my birthday afterwards. Cake was average, spin was awesome
wow - well holy cow, hard to think of one - I've really enjoyed all the spins that Terry and Steve have led - I especially enjoyed Terry's spin that brought us across to Glencree and back up Tibradden a couple of months back, and have been buzzin' on spins around kindlestown and GOTD too - all really great spins. Steve's magic adventure spins over Wicklow have been something special too - there was one on a cold morning a few months back that led down to Devils Glen that was magical, big group out absolutely flying it on the downs and then in Steve's Secret Garden trail over the big boulder of no-return - awesome! that might be one of my top 100 favorite boulders right there!
Also Djouce last week in the cold and dry was amazing. . . kinda stuck for choice!!!
almost forgot - there was 3Rock spin Lawdie lead that was great fun recently too! really enjoyed that too!
(I really just want to go out on my bike now. . . )

Haven't done much but Oisin brought us on some new trails up kindlestown and we were hitting some nice small jumps. That was class

It's a sign of what a great club we have when it's too hard for me to say what was the best spin I was on in 2017 because most of them were amazing thanks to Harri, Terry, Steve and Roo.

Didn't get out on as many club spins as I would have liked but getting blown around the top of Scarr in a gale was definitely memorable. Thanks to everyone who gives up their time to lead the spins.
Non club has to be Stellenbosch; dusty trails, sun, looking out for cobras followed by steak and wine.

Hard to pick the best one â for me theyâre all awesome. Nearly always somewhere new, and the support and encouragement from spin leaders Terry, Harri, Steve, Erica, Oz and Caroline is always amazing!
At a push though the Timmons Tour de Wicklow was my favourite! Great full day out with some amazing trails and great crew and banter. And I love that boulder of no return too!
Iâve also really enjoyed the night spins â theyâre tough! but I do feel amazing when I finish them!

Really tough for me to say aswell as the spins are always amazing with this club. Thanks to terry, Harri , stevo and Caroline M , I wouldn’t get to any of the places without you ! If I had to choose I must say Timmons Tour de Wicklow was really brilliant and extra extra memorable. But also Lawdie’s spin in three rock on 28th October which became sooooo Enduro on lots of Enduro trails up there, great crack, great trails & no one broke anything , not even Lawdie surprisingly ; ) ! Thanks everyone for being such great hosts !
There have been some absolute belters this year – Steve’s tour of Wicklow stands out as an epic, hanging in there for 2 Sunday spins is always good, those spins led by Harri, Caroline, Terry et al were always fantastic fun. Not mentioned yet were Roo’s Thursday night spins in Djouce in August/September - absolute class fun – once a lap of the xc course was out of the way, they turned into full on enduro let the bike go mayhem – some crack on those spins getting the last out of the summer!
Also did a lot of exploring over the summer in the forests between Arklow and Woodenbridge on both the south and north of the river – so much xc style single track heaven down there its remarkable with very little wear and tear. I’ll run a spin down there next summer if there is interest, you could get a good 4 to 5 hours of exploring out of it no problem – finishing at the beach for a swim and a beer – mtb doesn’t get much better! Hoorah!
