Hi guys. I was looking into this last year and I've decided I'm going to give it a shot. It's a 3 day stage race that starts and finishes in the Catalan town of Girona. The stages are 60k, 80k and 50k. It takes place on the 28th of April to the 1st of May. They pride the event on being mostly singletrack and I've ridden a few of the trails over there and its a very cool spot.
Tough day yesterday with very Irish weather. Good to keep the temperatures down. Amazing trails with some tough climbs and brilliant descents. I ended the day in 26th in Elites whilst John was 4th in M50 and we came in within 3 mins of each other. Really enjoyable and now for 80k of hardship. Yeow!
So todayâs update. John put himself on the Podium in 3rd in M50. Some going! I rode a steady one to stay in the top 30 Elites with a 28th place. The trails out here are endless and it defo is one for the list. I think I could make this an annual thing 😜
What an experience! I entered the depths of what it is to suffer yesterday. The Legs were having none of it for the first 20km and I just had to put the head down and do what I could. I was a bit freaked out by how little power I could put down but I suppose itâs just something I never experienced before seeing as it was my first stage race. Came good at the half way mark and pushed to make up a few spots. What an amazing experience it has been and I could definitely get used to this type of racing. The star of the show was my asr. It was perfect in every way and didnât let me down once. What a machine! Finished the 3 days 24th in Elites. Goal was top 30 so Iâm a happy man.
