A savage course, a serious amount of climbing combined with some fast descents. It was relentless but the sun on the face and wind on the back made the rocky ascent less brutal. It was a great day for racing, perfect conditions. I ended up 8th. The field of 30 riders piled into the first single track and from then on it was a case of clawing back places. I went steady for the 4 laps and took my chances. A split second lapse in concentration on the last descent let the guy I was chasing get a gap. I put everything into the sprint at the end but couldn’t pull it back. Fair play to Derek Mulvey in S3 and John and Paul in S1 - 5 laps of savagery. Thanks to Graham and Gary for all the encouragement. It kept my head up.AND
