Santa Social Charity Spin Sunday 22nd Dec at 9:30

Sorry about the delay in posting been out of the loop and busy busy

Yes it's running and here is the plan

Gathering at 9:30 at the biking.ie hut social very slow lap of the official trail dressed in your best Xmas clothing. Having a laught catching up and generally getting into the Xmas spirit. Mince pies and chocolates coffee and the like after

As you may or may not know our very good friend Jon Willets and his family are involved in a charity very close to their hearts so we as club gave decided it would be very befitting to help them in there work and raise a few euro. So please support.

I have kindly asked Jon to provide some details of the charity and he will follow up with this soon.

So I look forward to it and I'll see you all Sunday any questions just shout

Open to the all club members and friends of the club so spread the word

Deadly, thanks Chris, looking forward to it. I'm going to have mini bake sale afterwards, all money goes to the charity, so bring some extra coins... Although notes would be better [emoji16]
There will even be some healthier protein balls, Niall and Alan tested them on Saturday, Niall said they were the best balls he's ever tasted... I'll take that as a compliment so.

As some of you may know my kids have a rare disorder called PKU so Ive put in a little info about it below. There's a link to the PKU website if you want to know more and also a link to the donation page. Any contributions are helpful as it helps us raise awareness in Ireland and Europe for PKU to try and get better standard of care.

Phenylketonuria, or PKU, is a rare genetic disorder that affects a person’s metabolism. If untreated, PKU results in profound physical and intellectual disabilities. Screening for PKU takes place for all newborn babies in the Republic of Ireland through the heel ***** test, so everyone born after 1966 has been tested. In Ireland approximately 1 in every 4,500 babies is diagnosed with PKU – a relatively high incidence rate, compared to the UK where it is believed to be closer to 1 in every 12,000 babies. People with PKU are unable to break down an amino acid called phenylalanine (phe). This is a natural substance found in food; a building block of protein, but in people with PKU, phe builds up in the blood and in the brain and can cause serious problems. While there is no cure for PKU, there is a way to prevent the build up of phe in the blood and brain. This involves a very challenging, highly restricted, low protein diet. Children and adults with PKU also need to take regular dietary supplements that contain essential amino acids, vitamins and minerals, while keeping the blood phe level within a specific target range. A PKU child’s phe level is measured regularly by blood tests that are sent to the Children’s University Hospital at Temple Street. Once analyzed, dietitians at The National Centre for Inherited Metabolic Disorders will inform patients/parents how to manage their diet in the following period. Adults with PKU should also undertake regular blood testing to ensure they avoid any symptoms associated with high blood phe levels. For more info on PKU see http://pku.ie

No Santa Suits are not being supplied this year unable to find any supplier offering suits at 1 euro
You will have dress yourself or reuse last years or going shopping

A lovely day and a heck of a lot warmer and drier than last year...!

That was a great social day out. The generosity of the club is unbelievable! Thanks Chris and all those that baked and brought cakes, and to everyone who turned up and donated to PKU charity! You are all amazing, what a great club!

Well Epic that was fantastic. Thanks to Chris and Erica and all the bakers. The generosity was unbelievable!
We just done a quick tally of the cash from today and there was over €700. I will post up the exact number when we get the amount from the on line deposits. I will post it all on the PKU facebook page and the PKU association website also, as well as any pics.
