Bit of a race report. There was a great gang of Epic heads down there yesterday to ride a great course. Colm McGarvey back with a bang to claim 2nd in S2, equally awesome John Doris just missing the podium by less than 30 seconds in the same race. Kevin, Oisin and Niall further back in a very competitive S2 race that saw the biggest field of the day! All seriously quick times.
S3 saw myself, Jason and Graham giving it a lash. We were all amazing as usual. Enough said.
In S4 Conor Grogan (who I'm ashamed to say I don't know) raced putting in good solid times on the testing course.
My lad Darragh took 6th of the 10 U14s and was stoked with his day, thank god his course was different to the senior laps as it spares me having to face the truth that the little so and so is faster than me already… again, enough said. He was happy.
I think that's everyone. Ten Epic'ers. Not bad, be great to see more giving it a lash next year.
As for the course, it was a very good one. For the likes of me who's riding more to experience new trails as to 'race' I thought it was excellent. Except for the longish fire road climb.. and all the other climbs…. But the single track was great crack. I think I raced there xc years ago.. a Leinster league round I think? Hopefully there will be more xc events there.
Well done to everyone who raced and to Colm on the podium. I see a reversal in the result of the Kevin - Oisin battle with Kevin coming out on top of this one - well done :-).
@kevin - it looks like you were in a epic battle with the lads in front - very close racing!
It was a great day's racing with loads of Epic riders. I was testing my legs after a return to racing and was happy enough. Very interesting results with Ronan o Flynn blowing a gasket and Colm (commuter) mcGarvey finishing an excellent 2nd. Looks like the buzz of xc racing is back! Well done everyone.

I felt pretty good. I had just got past the three lads In Front on the last lap, but then got badly held up on one of the climbs where there was a dual line and the lads got past me again just before the last section of single track. A bit gutted about that but, but happy nonetheless.

It was a really good course with sections of the enduro trails and the end of the DH track adding some high speed thrills. I had a decent start, with Kev on my wheel for a lap or two but then he took the lead and I lost touch - I finished behind him but he had pulled 3 minutes on me! Great riding! A lot of climbing in the loop also and final laps getting slower for me but still letting it hang out on the descents!
Not to far away with the motorway now down past Ennsicorthy - definitely worth a trip with the big bikes. Looked like there were trails everywhere!
