Darragh racing first year U14, testing sections, greasy after rain, roots are… wet. Glad we got this evenings practice. Going to be great!

Well done to all that raced in those conditions, showers, sun, wind, showers, greasey mud, sliddery rocks, the lot!

Great races from Oisin, Emmet, Jason, Rory, Jonny D, Terry O and young Darragh....


Hard luck to Colm who after a blistering start at the M40's got a flat tyre and had to Dnf :(

Brenda Conroy was off to the sunny South East to the National Downhill champs in Bree finishing second in junior section

Great days racing at xc champs yesterday great course done 2 practice laps sat first lap slipping sliding dapping all the way around after dropping the psi down to 14 psi able to keep the bike right way up
Arrived Sunday half lap practice much drier just need more practice at the grass mass starts after that all went well chasing down anybody in sight happy to be catching passing riders and riding smoothly across the rocks and roots just one off on the last lap.

Big shout out to John some result in star packed field.

Also impressed by Emmet's ride in m30 race in torrential rainfall All the riders, bikes muckyer than a cx race on the day

Brilliant course in Bellurgan, got my practice on what was a techy slightly slippy course on Saturday knowing heavy monsoons were forecasted for the Sunday around the time my race would start. I bought a set of barzos after the last slippy race and definitely needed them. Started steady enough in heavy rain, the course was muddy but grippy enough and overtook a few riders. I was constantly trying to rub mud out of my eyes but all i was doing was forcing it further in, then my jellies were being covered in mud with my mucky gloves so i was spitting mud half blinded. Happy to finish in 8th spot behind some really fast riders. Big thanks to all the epic crew with the words of encouragement in the field on each lap.

Fair play to everyone who raced. Great results for Doris and Oisin especially

Well done folks. Some great results there. Sounds like apocalyptic conditions. Nice ride getting to the podium John. Gutted for you Colm!

A super weekend of it in Bellurgan, big fields in most races with many levels represented and giving it a lash. Super riding from John, really used experience to get an excellent silver on the day. Emmet had a super race also finishing ahead of and amongst really strong company. Really unfortunate for Colm, I'd say he wasn't the only one, the course could be unforgiving with the rock gardens and the gap jump all capable of wrecking a race, particularly when it got greasy and pressures were lowered. Darragh had a hard day, there have been snots in the house (not Covid - negative tests) and I think it got in the way of his oxygen demand as the race wore on. He had a positive first lap, the technical stuff didn't trouble him, he was amongst those who he knew he'd be racing with the stronger guys gone ahead, but he couldn't keep it up for the second and third laps.. the climbs caught him and he got caught behind others on the descents. He wants to keep at it though… roll on CX!

Great reports all, it was an excellent set up in a Bellurgan, really well organised event. Well done to all who raced, was a deadly course as always, congrats to John D on his excellent podium and amazing recovery in 6 months!
great to hear that young Darragh is keen for more, it’s all about the youth, too many of us aul fellas about!
I was just unlucky (& gutted) to get a bad puncture on first lap, thanks for the commiserations, that’s racing, on to the next one!
