Now, the Cycling Ireland offroad Commission AGM is on soon,
The Commissions main purpose ( sole purpose in my opiinion) is to develop the sport and organise the NPS.
theres 2 parts to the Commission The DH and XC.
The DH side has always been successful and runs smoothly, so is of no concern
however the XC side ,in a lot of peoples opinion ,has been a disaster. The XC NPS is haphazard and disorganised.
Date have been cancelled and postponed and generally we never know where we are.
I know a lot of people are dissillusioned with it, including members from other Clubs.
I've talked to loads of people about it and everybody agrees its not good enough.
The interest in XC is waning, As a club , we are easily the largest MTB Club in the Country by miles, the figures are there. 100 members, actual Cycling Ireland members. Which also makes us one of the largest Cycling Clubs in Ireland.
Theres absolutely no countrywide association of Mountainbike clubs in XC. it seems to me that it is either Leinster or Ulster.
No mention of the MBCC league , The Connacht league or ULs contribution is ever made.
Now I am not mad keen to go back on the Commission, i'm not a good Commission person, I work better as a Tyrant. But there are loads of people around who are not volatile or bullies who could get involved in the Commission, Experience doesn't matter as the people already on it didn't have any when they went on it and besides as they do absolutely zero what difference does it make.
but there are good people who need to give the commission a big kick up the arse.
If people think i should go on the Commission, I will. i don't want to, it will take away from my involvement with EPIC and I really don't think i'm good on the Commission. But if others don't get involved, people like me end up running it and it just becomes bogged down in petty arguments and old grudges.
your opinions here, please
