Offroad AGM sometime

Now, the Cycling Ireland offroad Commission AGM is on soon,
The Commissions main purpose ( sole purpose in my opiinion) is to develop the sport and organise the NPS.
theres 2 parts to the Commission The DH and XC.
The DH side has always been successful and runs smoothly, so is of no concern
however the XC side ,in a lot of peoples opinion ,has been a disaster. The XC NPS is haphazard and disorganised.
Date have been cancelled and postponed and generally we never know where we are.
I know a lot of people are dissillusioned with it, including members from other Clubs.
I've talked to loads of people about it and everybody agrees its not good enough.
The interest in XC is waning, As a club , we are easily the largest MTB Club in the Country by miles, the figures are there. 100 members, actual Cycling Ireland members. Which also makes us one of the largest Cycling Clubs in Ireland.
Theres absolutely no countrywide association of Mountainbike clubs in XC. it seems to me that it is either Leinster or Ulster.
No mention of the MBCC league , The Connacht league or ULs contribution is ever made.
Now I am not mad keen to go back on the Commission, i'm not a good Commission person, I work better as a Tyrant. But there are loads of people around who are not volatile or bullies who could get involved in the Commission, Experience doesn't matter as the people already on it didn't have any when they went on it and besides as they do absolutely zero what difference does it make.
but there are good people who need to give the commission a big kick up the arse.
If people think i should go on the Commission, I will. i don't want to, it will take away from my involvement with EPIC and I really don't think i'm good on the Commission. But if others don't get involved, people like me end up running it and it just becomes bogged down in petty arguments and old grudges.
your opinions here, please
Richie
A poisoned chalice my friend. There will be no gratitude for your efforts, only strife and fighting. Remember last time?
As you say, you're better at being Chief Executive Tyrant of Epic. I don't have a better suggestion for the commission, just saying you would regret going on it. Well - maybe Alfie for the commission then? :-)
Have to agree. Some people don't want you on the committee, and no matter what you do, they will knock you. You can actually do more from the outside. I'm not saying you're not the man for the job, you are well capable. Instead, organise your races, put your ideas to the committees, and enjoy your biking......
Unless you were very lucky as regards who else found themselves on the commission or you were able to hand pick the other commission members then I think it'd be a mistake -you'd bring way too much grief and stress on yourself. It should be relatively easy to coordinate a good NPS outside the commission and you can simply continue the excellent development work with kids and newbies that you're already doing with EPIC.
thanks lads, I defiinitely won't be going forward. Alfie and Carol would kill me anyways.
The AGM

So is anyone gonna show up?.... i was thinking of attending but I won’t be doing anything stupid like putting my hand up... unless there handing out Chocolate biscuits.

Good Decision Byrner. Let them away at it to make their own mistakes. The core spirit of EPIC will carry on no matter what happens in the bizarre world of the off-road commision, or what they (dis)organise
Oh we all need to go and stand up and complain. If enough people went forward and removed the bad eggs. Then it would be a different case altogether.
The Calender is out, thers 4 XC races on it for next year, all of them before May..
Sorrento
Carlingford
maghermore
Castlewellan

The Dh one will be bursting when its finalised.
