Well done Micky!

Thanks very much lads.I did in fact tell Richie in the pub after the last clubrace that I was thinking of going.I miss the racing,so seeing as the weather was forecast to be dry I headed up.The only others from the south that I know went up were Ryan and Mel and a lad from Fingal Tri Club,Karl Ennis.Anyway, after signing on,I did a practice lap.The course was mainly single track, with 2 fireroad climbs, not too steep, but hard enough on the legs by lap 3!!!Alas it had rained the previous day, resulting in the single track being very muddy and skiddy.I feel off twice on my practice lap!!Two short sections where "hike a bike" due to lack of grip.Due to seeding,I had to start on row 3,with 10 riders ahead of me.The grassy start straight was'nt very long before hitting the single track,so I only got into 8th before going into the forest. So it was follow the leader till we hit the fireroad and I got past a few more riders. After that I was'nt really racing anyone, but caught up with Mel and rode most of my race more or less with her.To be honest my finishing position of 5th was about right, best I could do on the day.Everyone i talked too was friendly, including one man who siad"Im surprised Richie Byrne let you up here to race!!"Told him I had Richie's blessing! The day itself was more like a lowkey NPS than a National, didnt have the big number of entrys we get down south, and was'nt a patch on the Epic run National a few weeks ago,as there was no real razzmatazz or kids boucy castles etc.But glad I went, gave the body a good workout, and shows me that I need to be fitter, faster, stronger.Regards,Micky
