Gorey 3 day

The entry form for the Gorey 3 day will be out next month and the entry is normally limited to 190 riders, these spots fill up very quickly less than a week, also getting in the entry early will get you a good start time for the Time Trial on Sunday morning, so you’ll have time to take it easy before the stage in the afternoon. I know some people are think of trying a few road races and then making up their mind if they were going to do the Gorey, however the first race in March and at this stage it will be too late, so will need commitment before then, now a bit of information for anyone thinking of it:

Entry fee €50

Accommodation: The last 2 years I have stayed in B&B most of them are outside the town and you need to get a taxi in and out, and for the 2 nights the cost is roughly €70-80.
On talking to Ross and others, being closer to the town and a bit more comfort is better, so were thinking of stay at the Amber Springs Hotel the cost work out at roughly €120 for the 2 nights.Let me know your thoughts on this.

I think Richie is the Team manager, and he’ll need someone else as well as a mechanic/ generally someone to scream abuse, any takers?

So if you interested in riding the Gorey post your name on here, I need to do a bit of digging if there is a max amount allowed on a team, but I don’t think so. Bear in mind the race is only open to A2 & A3 riders and it’s tough so don’t take it lightly. Any questions pop them up there

Stage information below

Stage 1: Easter Saturday Around 110km
Start 12 Noon. Neutralised to start proper at Riding Stables, Brittas, Blessington, Baltinglass,
Hacketstown, down through Tinahely town to Tochar Cross Roads and turning right for Carnew into
Carnew and turn left. After approx. 6 miles turn right into Craanford, on straight to Camolin turning left
onto Enniscorthy Road, approx 500 yards on turn right heading for Smith’s Cross Roads, turn left out onto
Gorey/Ballycanew Road, its approximately 3 miles to the finish at the 30 mph sign on Ballycanew

Stage 2: Easter Sunday 4mile Time Trial
Start at 9.00 a.m. just before Clough (4 miles out Enniscorthy Road) Finish at Monument.
Riders off in race order number not G.C. order.

Stage 3: EASTER SUNDAY 4 laps (15 mile circuit)
Sign on and collect tags at Loch gCarman Hotel, Main Street at 1.30 p.m.
Start at 2.30 p.m. at Monument, out Carnew Road, turn left at Craanford, straight on taking left turn onto
Enniscorthy Road at Camolin. Finish just before 30 mph sign before Gorey on Enniscorthy Road (same
as last year).

Stage 4 Monday – Start 12 Noon, Main Street, Gorey. Around 95Km
Sign on and collect tags at Loch Gorman Hotel, Main Street at 11.00 a.m.
Riders assemble at side street facing Loch Gorman Hotel for start.
Route:Up Main Street, right at Monument to Carnew (straight), Shillelagh, Tullow (Right), Rathvilly,
Baltinglass, Blessington. Finish approx. 4 miles other side of Blessington, finish at Roecrete Quarry
(approx 3.5 miles past Blessington).

I usually opt for a cheaper accommodation but I'll willing to shell out a few more bob to be closer to the venue etc. We'll also need all the comfort we can get.

Also, regarding the other races I can do:

17th March (paddy's)
20th March (Leinster Leauge)
3rd April (NPS rd1)
17th April (NPS rd2)

Hopefully 4 races will be enough to learn the roadie strategies etc.

I looked at a few B & B's this morning and most of them want €45 p/p a night (€90 in total), so i rang the Amber Springs Hotel and got a deal of €115 per person for the 2 nights, so I have booked 4 twin rooms at that rate (for 8 people), now if 1 more person comes the one of the rooms can be turned into a triple or if 2 more people are come we will get another room.

People also can pay for it in full and get 10% discount €103.5
We can also get a dinner for a extra €25

They have taken nothing off my card, it was just to secure the rooms at that rate and we can cancel 48 hours before our arrvial without being charged. So no one a committed yet.

Let we know if people are happy with this. (and committed!!)
