Well Smither's has agreed to give us another week of his excellent spin leading skills so we're back to Djouce for another grand tour of the best mountain biking in Wicklow! The pace will be steady but not slow and we will not be stopping! If you can keep up with me (most people!) you are welcome!
Leaving the carpark at 10am sharp.
(Like last week I'll be cycling up from Shankill - passing Rathmichael Church at 9am and the hill in Enniskerry at about 9.40am - post here if you're coming and I'll pick you up on the way.) Hmmm .... Just remembered that I'm racing Cross on Saturday so I may just start at Djouce!
Ok kiddies, weather permitting I hope to do Maulin, River vally, Ride rock, down desperation, secret trail, GC, Step, and then see how we are doing time wise. If weather is crap we will stay around Djouce taking in all the good trails it has to offer.
Well Smithers led us on another great spin! Really good group out (including the whole Mulvey Clan!) and the only real stop was for a puncture. The "Gorse of Death" on the way up to Maulin was grim but the rest of the spin was bang on! Orla and Caroline were both flying and Gary Ennis is starting to get disgustingly fit.
Still missing a few people that I would have expected to see out but they're obviously putting on their winter fat layer in preparation for hibernation!

Super spiffing spin lads and lassie's. The goorse was cruel ,the climb up maulin was crueler. River vally was super slippy, desperation was class and finished off on XTC. Well done everyone 2hrs and 20mins there, there abouts, very little waiting and a nice pace.

I am currently training lucas and elva for the olympics i dont know what year they will be doing it at yet ( ha ha).I take the kids up every sunday around balinastoe so thats me out for club spins on a sunday, And we were joined by my sisters neighbours 15 year old who has great potential and i think he has a few friends that are keen to get started in mtb i am goin to try and do regular spins with them around balinastoe hopefully every week..
Excellent spin thanks guys. Good mix of fit-making-pain-climbs and fun-fast-technical descents. Even had a torc sandwich when the torcies decided to join in. We didn't show any weakness! Thanks Smithers and RL. Looking forward to next week already.
Thanks to Smithers for a cracking spin, apart from my puncture there was very little stopping, I'll be picking gorse from my body for the next month only for the helmet's we'd have been like hellraiser! Hope to be making these on a more regular basis good to be in djouce on a great day thanks
