Djouce, lower car park 9am. Down to the Waterfall, up around Ride Rock and in Djouce via the back door.

Great spin today, myself, Cathal, Justin, Rudolf and Zen in seriously windy conditions (not to be blamed on Cathals curry antics this time), although we were sheltered from it most of the time. XTC is in bits, the trail survives but it is strewn with branches and debris and is largely unrideable until it can be cleared. Benchcut was as dry as a bone. Across the river, past the visitors centre and up toward ride rock. We ventured right at the top onto the new trail with the gnarly switchbacks, hiking of bikes took place, Rudolf, Zen and Cathal all gave it loads though. I was feeling the 2 weeks out of the saddle. We made the summit, paused for refreshments and hid from the wind. Then it was banzai down toward the river (what is this descent called, anyone?), the wind trying to blow us back up the hill. Then climbaroonie and a bit of a debate about doing either Ack or Alans trail, peer pressure prevailed and off we went to Alans. It has rarely been better. Bone dry again, and in good shape, not too much traffic there it seems. Zen and Rudolf, fearless and showing great style, impressive stuff. Justin fell at the last before the little jump at the bottom, all the greasy rocks and roots were waiting there. Up the Earls drive, GC and back to the carpark. Great riding all round, odd conditions, while it was raining, gloomy and well windy, the trails are pristine after the long dry spell.

Nice one lads, really enjoyed that.

Where the flippity Flip is everybody,..theres loads of people in the club threatening to ride their bikes in the new year..have they caught the no motivation thing, is jessica Fletcher and her wily ways on UKGold +1 keeping them at home ?

Great spin, Still dark when we started off trying to find a way thru branches on XTC. Alans trail was good fun. Felt like we had the mountains for ourselfs not many people around. Don thanks for organizing this spin.

a bit sleepy starting out not being used to the 9 am start but the wind and Alans trail sorted that out soon enogh. Great spin even if democracy was he looser in the End. It seems you can't spend your formative years in a continent that has produced more than it's fair share of dictators without picking up a few tricks, eh Donald?

Zen, your skills are wasted on Ack, were you not a vision of control and daring do on Alans trail?

Alan, its not really a jump, more a fallen tree, at the bottom, where we usually stop to compare wounds and laugh at the crashing tail enders.

I was your right hand man in the suppression of the masses-
as for control and daring do -yes in my head I was all those things!

After two weeks of shivering and coughing a great spin with a great group was just what I needed.

New to me route from Djouce to Crone, deadly descent from Maulin down to the bridge and I got down most of Alans trail actually on my bike!
