Now I will do you people a deal..I noticed yesterday just how fat and slow some of you are , most of you don't deserve a chance at the big time but hey , heres your chance.
Leaving lambes at 10.00 heading out on the road to Djouce via the back roads to Crone.
Up ride rock and turning down in to powerscourt and a lap of Djouce.
All the fitness stuff is on the road and we then spend all our time in Djouce on the good offroad stuff.
This is the kind of spin that made Damo and Alfie in to the legends that they are. Most of you are not getting your 5 a day MTB Vitamins just turning up to 3 rock for a 13 km lap and Djouce for a 9km lap.
If you are serious about being a good mtber then lets have you on these spins.
Just don't believe for 1 minute that you will get to be deadly by doing one half arsed spin a month.
My apologies for the 10.00am start..I am going on the piss the night before with Alfie at the Champions night.
One thing I noticed is that a lot of you are overdressed and the minute you hit the first hill you become boil in the bag goobers..
Of course its cold when you are just after getting out of your car..if you must dress in 5 different layers at least use some cop on.
Standard dress for weakling is a base layer, a jersey, a gilet, armwarmers or a decent long sleeved jersey not a feckin ROubaix style road thing that designed for people spinning out to a coffee shop and back , bib tights ( better with tights from now till March ) and a race cape style windproof.
On my spins you do not need a flippin rain jacket.
The combination of good base layer , not some aldi muck. Endura , bicycle line or Helly Hansen have always proven to be the best for me, the canterbury ones are too warm. If you can stick the itch a merino base layer is a gift.
then a decent jersey, like the new epic ones or the last ones..not some Altura commuter jersey.
a gilet is the MTBers best friend..
Forget about trying to keep your legs and arms warm as long as you keep your chest and back warm you will be fine. And you only need a bloody hat under your helmet if you are standing in the queue at the bus stop !
How some of you don't pass out from over heating is beyond me.
And everybody should have a gas canister inflator thing , saves time and effort at the side of the trail.
I forgot mine last week and I really could have used it.
On Sundays we are not going out for a stroll in the hills , we are going for a fast, well equipped raid over the borders of normal life into a serious adventure and back again. Sort your selves out. you'll enjoy it more.
