Why is everyone so quiet today???? It was pretty miserable when arrived this morning, I was praying the race would be canceled. But actually after an hour hiding in the car it calmed down and the race started.
I did the baggy shorts cat, the queues on the metro trails weren't great but it was a good intro to the racing season.
I think I podiumed in baggie shorts but I had to head after my race finished.
As always the supporters of lifted the race so thanks to all who showed up and egged on the poor souls on the fire road
Well done to everyone who raced today, it was a tough race and anyone who completed 2/4laps deserves a medal
No my favorite venue for a XC race but had reasonably good fun anyway. The main climb is cruel but I felt the other kicker between Metros more for some reason.
Great to see all the supporters out despite the weather, it really makes a difference.
I'm getting confused who is on what team these days but well done to all today, especially young Max, Steve, Shona and Erica.
I think everyone is asleep at home or in the pub!!..yeah it was freezing when i arrived,i helped out with th kids race and i thought my hands were going to fall off!..but despite the weather i was happy with my race..Well done to all who turned up and raced a credit to all supporters for standing in the bitter cold and shouting us on,makes a huge difference.
Yeah..I was dreading this event, I hate the metros and like Max, i think the Kicker between the metros is worse. I started up the hill in a good bunch ..my aim was just to finish but after lap 1 I found myself in a brilliant bunch with Terry, Paddy Daly , Mark Kenny and Ray..I could see Steo ahead as well on lap 2 and 3 but on lap 3 I got some grit in my eye and it was a struggle not to quit as it steadily got worse and then near the end of lap 3 it must have moved and the pain was excruciating I just ground my way along then hoping nobody other than Ciara was catching me..I was very happy with my race, I had an absolutely brilliant race with the lads and I have my yang back for the NPS.

Fair play to Jack and Oscar, Ken and his kids, Andy, all the WAGS, Adrian and anybody else who came along to cheer us on..I think I saw Caroline but I could barely see and was distracted that I was imagining things..
and a special mention to Dave Conroy for his supporting shouts..I saw him every lap !! I heard a lot of people cheering me on but he was the loudest !
Sorry i couldnt stay for the prize giving, its usually my favourite part but I promised Sophie I would bring her to the cinema !! he NPS is going to be brilliant !
I hate to admit it, but I kinda like the metros, but not so much the Tarmac up and the thought of 4 of them was filling me with dread, add to that the weather when i woke up and the temptation to stay on the couch watching cricket with the little man was almost overwhelming.
Glad I went out though, really enjoyed it, the snow falling as i climbed metro, Jack and Oz cheering me on every lap was brilliant, thanks lads, not to mention Shona, Erica and the rest of the guys and gals at the start finish, Caroline and Andy on the tarmac, the loads of unknown ( to me anyway) supporters cheering a fat lad at the back of the pack, and the two lads who made it a race on the last 2 laps, never got their names but they all helped me enjoy the day.
Well done to all on their podiums, Shona, Erica, Max, Scotty and Stephen on his great overall result (apologies if I missed anyone).
Thanks to Niall and his crew of organisers and marshals for another superb event.
Hopefully I'll get to most of the nps races, just glad to be riding my bike.
yeah fair play Ross, you needed to man up before the NPS...there were a lot of EPIC in Baggies that should have been in Super Pro..remember you wont be able to jump around the categories in the NPS people and unless you only have one leg, we have no S4 riders in EPIC..you have till the 14th to train for S3 at least !!
Strangely tough yet enjoyable race today -racing in the snow was a good change from rain..
Low on numbers but a tough date to get people with parade age kids to race
Had a good dice with the Conor Lavelle lad for the last 2 laps and had to use my elbows at the end

Great race today loved every minute of it especially on the new bike, it flys!
Does anyone know what cameras were on the kicker about half way down lower metro? must have been a good few shots there cant wait to see them.

Tough race, the first climb I went hard and then coming down I thought big mistake, I'm gonna die I'm too tired for this level of danger, strangely though u get into a pain zone and I just love that buzz. Had a great dice with byrner, ray and paddy daly, we passed each other about 5 times, my forks blew on the the 3rd lap, so it was a very tough last lap hanging on for my life and getting bounced around the place, ray made a great move on last climb and I just sat there as I knew he would blitz me on the full suss 29er coming down, those yokes move, he was gone in no time, deadly race great to be alive, cheers folks for all the friendly support around the course and some cool photos too.
