Alfie Cancels Tuesday night Spin 3.2.09

Alfie has cancelled his Tuesday night extravaganza due to adverse weather conditions, he is snowed in to work on the Greenhills road..

Make that 7.30 for anyone thinking of heading out. Traffic tis a bit heavy

beware major problems around lamb doyles. I would check 103.2 before heading out.

I had to abandon my spin up to the Gym near there after I had several brushes with death and I was completely soaked..its like a mad place out there..

Yucky-D to Raheny will be as much biking as I get tonight. May yet have the feeling of a good off-road spin though.

Up in my dads across the road from the gym and just afther watching a toyota auris bin it into the back of a jeep,she was dazed to say the least......

Was the jeep OK?

After 25min of cycling that could only be compared to that of the inebriated, I arrived at the Gala Shop. Where, after the ridicule of missing last weeks spin, stood a frozen Alice. So off we set with big plans based on the illogical theory that it wouldn't so snowy once we got on the mountain. Another 15min of slipping and sliding took us off Barnaculla and onto 3 rock. Surprisingly it was covered in a foot of snow and after 10min of walking up we had to admit defeat.
The ride home was sketchy enough to make up for the complete lack of mountain biking and never let it be said we didn't try!

Well done, we will make a special presentattion to you at this years AGM

The ride up to the Gala shop was mental, i could deal with the kiddies snowballs and the odd skittering jeep but the soaking i got when a wee Irish Snow plough thingy rattled up beside me and sprayed metres of slush over me was a little rude. I should have given up at that point. I was a couple of shades of blue by the time Luke arrived. Second abandoned cycle in two weeks.

i dont make these desicions lightly girls i knew when i seen the two buses parked sideways stuck to the fences they just mangled on the greenhills road and the fiat punto sliding sideways past me with the hysterical female behind the wheel and the upside down car on the ballymount road that i probably wouldnt make it home on time for the spin and that going for spin would have been lunacy anyway.
but fair play to you for trying anyway

Lots of other people with illogical thoughts about snow and mountains this evening. I went up for a run around cruagh (a good foot of snow up there... I wanted to get higher so the crappy rain down low would magically transform to snow), and I had to slalom through all the eejits trying to get their cars up the road when I ran back down. You'd think evolution would eliminate these dopes. I'd say there's tons of abandoned cars around the roads of Dublin this evening.
