Terry has let me take over again this Saturday. Different route to previous trooperstown spins, heading over the back of Trooperstown Wood to connect in with the Avonmore Way down to Clara Vale Church and into the beautiful Clara Nature Reserve. A little loop around Ballydowling Wood and back home, sounds easy........! Looks like the best of the weather for the long weekend is for Saturday so if your not racing, come along!
Ah Christ on a bike, that was the bizz! A super modified Avonmore Way spin ( Avonmore Way is a 12k marked trail from Trooperstown Wood carpark to Stump of the Castle Rathdrum, really nice walk). Big decisions at the beginning between myself and Harri, would we do the easier less fun start or the beast climb followed by the super long savage trail start....weather was with us so up, up and up with option 2, so worth it with the never-ending trail and big boulder with the tiny roll off! Back onto the official Avonmore Way trail and a fun speedy running down to the back of Clara Vale Church and over to the old arched bridge for pics and food. A beautiful river run following the Avonmore river towards Rathdrum then a loop around Clara Nature Reserve. More pics, this time with the most adorable 2 yr old bull mastiff monster. Then....time to climb....about 50 mins from the river to the top of boots, interesting climb that saps the legs as it keeps getting steeper! Work done for the day so a cracking blast down to Trooperstown Wood and a rip through the trails. 3hrs, 30k and about 850mtrs of up! Well done all, especially Tara, great auld spin!
that was a cracker - kinda spin you'll always remember. so many great climbs and single track descents - brilliant fun, great gang too.
I thought that dog was going to eat me! he slobbered all over Tara - must have liked her.
I'm bate after that - that was great - very tired now,
That was class alright, nearly every trail was new to me, loads of lovely flowy single track, and a nice bit of climbing. I liked the Garmin top trumps at the end :) thanks timmons, we'll have more of that please
Oh yea, I was on that spin pretty sure however Garmin says I had the least amount of climbing and shortest distance? How odd ... deadly spin. In a heap here. Ha ha.
Ha, you were nearly blowing up on the fire road before the single track on the last climb! A refuel after the little gate and you were back again, good man!
