last night spin til December

Sorry I missed this just saw this now, had assumed it wudn't be on. See u in 6 weeks people : (

Wow, can't believe back to lockdown, group out Keith, Mal, Alan, Glenn and myself. Busier up there than other Wednesdays (wonder why). Hard start with a straight fire road climb to the masts and then down boneshaker into Shizzle then the lads went mad and took off back down boneshaker at the intersection halfway down, silly boys! Back up metro meeting the odd one coming down! At the top it was down a bit on the tarmac and Eurosceptic in reverse where we met Claire on her new bike and she duly ignored us, the cow. Turned left up the now flowing river bed and right up the water bars to Fairy Castle. Then it got interesting when coming over to the top metro Mal had an over the handlebars with one of the sneakiest rocks up there! The b@stard. So I walked him down with his gammy left shoulder, get well soon buddy!
Glenn had no hesitation leaving us, and the other three toodled off like merry men. No I sent them off to do pinball then left and up the rocky climb and metro it to finish.

Still a great night to be out on the bike, bloody rock and all.

Ah assumption the mother of all f**k ups.

Speaking of f**k ups that a classic by myself. Spin was going grand up the road to the masts then down shizzel where someone must have shouted skech and we all went different directions. Keith an I ended up going down the bottom part of bone shaker where I tryed to drag keith down the trail when I couldn't get to stop the bike and got tangled up some how. We got down to the bottom where Glen come from one side of us, then Alan came from the other side and Lawdie came up for the bottom of shizzel. Regrouped again happy out and we all headed off up the metro to the masts again then down the road and up the euro (where we meet Claire on her new bike very nice indeed) to fairycastle. We set out form there over to the top metro where things weren't interesting enough so I decided to grab a fist full of front brake and slam my already suspect shoulder into a lovely big piece of granite. Game over. Got down from there and walked back to the van with Lawdie for company.

Then quick trip into a&e for myself just to be sure to be sure. All ok, good bit of bruising and a fare amount of swelling but nothing broke and don't seem to done any more harm to ligaments.

Great spin thought.

Wednesday 21st Lockdown Spin - 6:30pm Biking.ie hut

Oh Mal, so glad there’s nothing broken. Hopefully after 6 weeks in cotton wool the bruising, swelling, and ligaments will be close to normal. Hard luck this evening.
The rest of the spin was uneventful in comparison - upper metro, pinball (despite Alan’s navigation), rocky road climb, and metro1 home (in the traditional direction this time.)
Thanks folks. If I exclude Mal’s mishap (and our spin leader abandoning the spin), I enjoyed the night. Proper wrecked at the end as usual. Thanks folks. Hopefully see y’all in 6 weeks. Hopefully our country will be in a lot better shape in 6 weeks.

Spin leader was getting the wounded soldier off the battlefield!

An eventful spin last night per the reports above... After the first descent all five of us got separated... I ended up at the bottom of face planter on my own thinking it won’t be a great final pre lockdown spin if I’m just arsing about on my tod..then I started seeing lights coming from various directions and happy days we managed to all regroup. Climbed up the downhills much to the dismay of the few bikers actually going the right way! But it’s a nice climb and is generally dry and something different. Legs were heavy as we climbed all the way up to fairy castle. Met some scobie hikers there. They were annoying. Down the rocky trail where Lawdie myself and Alan waited on Keith and Mal. In the meantime some randomer approached on a bike and said hello to Lawdie. Big mistake. Lawdie swiftly and vehemently put this guy in his place. (In fairness the guy wanted to use the unfinished new trail; Lawdie “gently advised” that the guy should not do that. He went with this advice). Then over the crest of the hill we saw the lights of the others descending but going very slowly. Mal took a nasty sounding fall and messed his shoulder up. Fair play to Lawdie for insisting on looking after Mal and getting him down the mountain, and telling us other 3 to continue on. We did as we were told. Down metro then pinball. Pinball was very tough on the body at that stage, lots of sliding and pulling the bike all over the place. Got to the end, back to top of hill, metro then car.
Mal, glad nothing broke or torn. 6 weeks of eating and drinking should sort you out hopefully.

Thanks Lawdie and the others. back to road biking and turbo now for a while...oh well, could be worse.
