Tuesday 14th DH Spin.

This week were in Carrick from 7:30pm till dark. we'll section-up and finish the spin with a full run.

Im heading down there tomorrow evening myself with one of the other lads from MAD. Can we hang out with you guys, we have no friends and adultfriendfinder.com isn't as good as it used to be!!
Seriously though it would be cool to session it with ye guys to see how it is done. (Brown nosing now complete)

I'm stuck working in Monahan till Wednesday so won't make this one. Will head down on Thursday eve though if anyone fancies it again then.

While i propel myself down a mountain on my cycle machine, i can attain a certain velocity v. This velocity is related to gravity g, my ability a, the dynamic friction co-efficent of the terrain t and the amount of balls i have b

.: v=gatb

When the course changes direction, it may be not possible to alter direction of said cycle machine without losing some velocity due to the corner's... well lets call it get-around-ness G. G is dependant on the angle of the turn @, the gradient of the turn s and whether the corner is banked or not x.

.: G= @sx

But G is generally greater than 1 sometimes up to 3 and Vmax which is the maximum velocity for a given corner is given by the following equation

Vmax= v/G

.: You need some way of reducing v before you get to the corner. The most efficient way found so far is to create an extra frictional force on your wheels, hence the need for brakes.

There used to be a lad on here called Psycholist, and he used to post that stuff that you did below, but he was 100% serious about it, and he'd get fierce upset if anyone contradicated his calculations....he was a good buddy of Basil's I think....they used to go on XC spelling-bee rides together

As for the seriousness of my calcs, it a few years since i have had to work out formula's from first principles. It may require some help from Basil but i reckon im on to something

Here's an equation....bike + rider - brakes = go!

Try that one, it's alot simpler than all your fancy crap!

Greg, it the great Unifying Theory of DH you are talking about. I tried it on Sunday but it didn't work out for me. Possibly has something to do with my ability or lack of on a bike.

And as for your description of my equations as crap , im highly insulted. 14 years of school, 4 years of college and 5 years of tax paying life were put into them forumla's and to have them described as poo poo by a lad not long out of short trousers....

He's still mostly in short trousers.

I can find no fault with the calculations, other than to suggest that an additional weighting factor be added to the "ability" term where a << 1. This would apply only to really **** riders, like me and all the MAD riders. This term would reflect the need for additional braking because such riders are so ****. I don't know what we should call this weighting factor, but I do think it's important to use lots of greek letters in equations. It's the latent physicist in me.

And I do miss psycholist on the forum. He knew his stuff more than most of yiz.

And you can’t apply the same logic to young lads, once your balls drop you centre of gravity changes and the whole lot get f**ked up.
