great spin, 'death by a thousand cuts' I think, wow that gorse was thick!
Had a great time- finallly learning to lay off the brakes and enjoy the speed
not easy coming down the side of the sugarloaf, but the single track was
much more manageable. (still eneded up face-dabbing- that might explain the
headache this morning!) ha ha.
The driving rain didn't deter anyone! nor the long road climb to the start!
Great evenings biking, many thanks Cathal & the crew.
The singletrack climb up would have been a schlompy waste of daylight so we shot up the road instead. Shona put in a remarkable Contador impression while observing that road spins are made even worse when there are markings on the road. Wierd but true.
Then into the hard climb up to the shoulder and into the clouds. Quick 180, turn on shocks, soften tyres, and it's down the gullys and rocks with Colm leading the charge like a legend.
I needed that fast grassy descent badly. After all the sclomp lately it was great to be flying on the bike again. Those sheep were lucky they legged it, I wasn't stopping for man or beast.
Then into the ferns for a few minutes of bewilderment. Down a trail, stream, dead end, up again, faff around on a few more dead ends, down the first trail, more uncertainty, shove aside some ferns and there's the bloody trail. Thanks everyone for bearing with me. Sure it meant you got to do the descent twice.
More speed followed with Garys' new ultra low saddle allowing him to give it socks. Wet as hell on the steep sections but more stony then muddy so plenty of fun.
Leeza got a great kick out of the jungle vibe past the 'cliff' and John got thrown over the handel bars so that was all good.
I need to do something about my fear of dogs. Once I'd made it past Cerebus it was down the road to road to the car park.
Thanks for coming out lads on what was a rough night.
dogs are great
I got a savage chase off one down the boneshaker last night, I had Ozzy screaming Crazy Train on the MP3 player and I could still hear the snarls of this big black fecker bating along behind, sizing up my ankle for a chomp, I resisted the temptation to foot-out on the corners in case it got taken off me, or in case I got mistaken for Sam Hill, and would have to stop and sign autographs and give DH tips to the likes of Gav etc..
