Kippure House and beyond Bank Holiday spin

Where do I start..
Ok ..a big pile of people turned out for the first Annual " I love Stewart Carr" Spin..
Of course theres always 1 eejit ..turning up as soon as I had switched Monsieur Garmin on..so as theres no saying no to Garmo..off we went...for some reason Alfie and Luke waited for said eejit and off we all hooked up at the entrance to the first forest..up we went enjoying a fine Autumnal view over The Bay of Blessington and the rugged peaks of Kippure and Jabberwocky..
Up and up and up for ages until we hit the first singletrack ....
Known to everybody as Carpetmuncher...down carpet muncher and on to Toilet duck which led us on to the road after lots of puddles and piles of pointy sticks..
Then off the road again below Seefingan and along the next bit of singletrack, I think Luke called it Povertypox or something..on to the fireroad ,collected all the people and then in to Tapetapetapetapetape...
that was pretty schlompy with some minor dabs..until Lukes bike discombobulated and we had 20 mins of goobery while Stewart ( we really love you ) Carr raped bolts out of Colins bike and hammered them in to offending orifices..
heres a few pictures from while we all all standing around loving up Stewart ! and spot the friendly TW rider !!

and heres a nice gentlman doing a pose of his favourite person

then we went off down some deadly singletrack and on to a nice road , up a nice fireroad and across a river to this big mother of a slimy hill..then across some really crap track some MXers had built

in the meantime Fecker impaled hisself on his saddle

any way after a long slog up a wide tarmac singletrack we headed down on to Butter mountain and one of many big puddles

once again Lugash held us up with yet another mechanical !!!
but now Don went and buggered hisself by getting a puncture in his tubeless tyres..tubeless , how can you get a puncture in a tubeless tyre !!
I'll tell you how ( i'm an offroad Commissaire !!) wrong tyre choice/pressure/ air quality...
thats how..

then it was back up to Athdown forest for a bit of an old spin down a deadly section..
well some of did..Rory , Darragh and Don bailed when I wasn't looking..apparently Sky were running an Antiques roadshow festival on tv3...
look at this..that blur is Victor Lucas..Gordon Lucas' faster , more attractive and cooler brother !!

anyway Mac the knife got a puncture in his tubeless tyres..Nobby bitsopaperthin rubber tyres..load of me bollix if you ask me !!
anyway me and the God that is Stewart Carr strolled back to base with him and everything was rosy..
the rally back to Palmers over Glencree was better than the spin !!! ah yeah EPIC adventures..
In the Pub the Captain was in fine form, however I refuse to share his wisdom with people that weren't there because that would just undo the coolness of it !!
until next time Batknackers !!
Good stuff... I enjoyed that.. good to check out somewhere different for a change.. happy days..

Now to figure out what went wrong with my UST valve... stupid bloody thing getting stuck in the rim and what not..! Where's my hammer....!!
Looks like a deadly spin sorry I missed it!!!!!! What is that a whip or something hanging out of Stu's shorts? Poor Luke is goin to have a mental breakdown if his lack of luck continues me thinks. "Batknackers" where do you get them from!!!!
It's one of those bungs you put up exhaust pipes while pressurewashing.
too much love...
Some spin indeed, great photos, what a day for it! Lots of classic moments to look back on, Lukes missing bolt was a doozy, that bike must have built on an old indian burial ground. Nice to go an spin where you are not circling the same old terrain, really expansive spin with some cracking views. Them the tyre issue, technically not a puncture but a ripped sidewall and the first time in 3 years that I've had to change a tube, thanks to Stew and Rory for the assistance. I committed a grave sin by going fully tubeless, ie no spare tube, it won't happen again, I've been on borrowed time for ages. Then a stupid crash bent my brakelever and the spin was over for me. Sliddery as bejeebus but a great spin and a great crowd.

great to see Joe Jackman on the spin and fair play to Colm! I'd say that a bit of a shock to the system...
I had a funny moment with Colin and Eoin Keith or Eoin lawless I think..
" don't brake for your enemies!!" Darragh I don't know where the **** comes from !
hes a lovely guy...not as brilliant or as amazing as Stewart but really, really nice!!

That's funny - I heard "Those brakes are your enemies!" So tried to avoid using them
for the rest of the spin :) Some great sliddery bits today.
He's after a go in that Mig 25 Foxbat that Stew has stashed in his hangAr.
great spin and great craic but very rutty in that part of Wicklow!

Trying to keep up on the way home to Palmers was harder than ths spin!
Foxbat? Anything with name like that just has to be fast and lethal!

Super spin with some classic moments, the oddest being a throng of about 30 multi-tool equipped lads surrounding my bike with a thirst for 6mm bolts while Byrner tried to insert a large dead tree up my bottom.

Sally Gap + lots of torque = fun. Was anyone else struck by just how beautiful drive down was that early, the light was unreal. I had to stop the car to take it in.
