Yep I am,and I will be on me xc bike so we can bin it together down katys. I've been near that mad man Byrne now for a couple of weeks up at Katys I am going to try one of his lines so don't fuppin follow me if I'm in front.
Well that was a quick spin for me inanyways!!!!!!!! My rear cassette had a heartattack and gave up. The rear sprockets are all loose and the rear wheel felt like it was siezing up really hard to pedal. Does this mean i need a new one or can it be serviced?
pour petrol on it and burn it!!!
My thoughts exactly might take it of the XTR hub 1st, so do you think thats what need to be replaced oh great one? there only €47 on CRC.
it might be the skinny bolts that hold the sprockets on have come loose..I don't actually know, i use cheap sram muck for sprockets!
If it's the freewheel assembly then it's an easy replacement. Take out the axle, and you should be able to remove the freewheel with an allen key. 10 or 12mm, as far as I remember.
The cassette is mounted on the freewheel, and needs a cassette removal tool. only a few euro, and worth having. borrow mine if you need.

You'l need a chain whip too. And, if you're changing your cassette you'l need a new chain.

It was a quick spin for me too Smithers, just a different kind of quick than your spin. Pace seemed to be a bit quicker than last week, I think you guys were just lulling me into a flash sense of security in djouce last time. Managed to hang in for the whole spin bar coming down Katys!! It's fecking deadly coming down there on a six inch bike but it's a different story on an xc bike with a practically non existent front brake and a rear one that locks up with the slightest touch on the lever!! Nearly killed myself coming down.. It was tough going tonite but I still enjoyed it, looking forward to next week already, cheers guys.
