ok i know i need new tyres, and apparently Maxxis are great but there are soooooo many of them. can someone advise which to get.
On chain reactions and they have all these different types;
High roller, ignitor, larsen, medusa, minion
and then if you do manage to pick one of these, there are MORE decision to be made..
Maxxpro, Slow Reexy, super tacky, 2.35, 2.5 or 2.7 (i can only guess this is width of tyre...)
Shona, I am a big Maxxis fan but we are heading into winter and Ignitors, while a great summer tyre are out of their depth in the schlomp. Al recently steered me towards Hutchinson Bulldogs and the traction is far better.
she doesn't need bulldogs, she doesn't have a fat arse like you Don..
Unless i can't get them I run a Ignitor 2.3 on the front and a 1.9 on the rear on my XC racing bike and a 2.1 ( rear) on everything bar my DH bike..no traction issues, no cornering issues, no issues whatsover dry ,wet,schlompy..
I am rapidly losing patience with this ridiculous tyre debate..
..Bulldogs are what â¬50 a tyre, basic Maxxis ignitors are what â¬20, less ??..

i've read all your suggestions and while i value all your opinions equally they only have the hutchensons in 2.1" so i'm gonna go with both Als and Richies advise (no way i'm taking sides there....)

it seems they don't have the XCs in 2.3 only 2.1 or 1.9. If i wanted the 2.3 for the front can i get only of the many variants of the ignitor; fr/fr exception/

Did you know the Cuban Missile crisis was all over the new Maxxis Missile 2.3's, the Russians had a boatload of them on the way to Fidel, and the US wanted them for some hardcore Colorado mtb action. That was a close one.
