Carbon Frame Repaired

Disaster struck last thursday when out on a night spin a stick got picked up by my backwheel,snagged in the derailleur resulting in a broken hanger, bent spoke, bent derailleur and worst where the hanger attatches to the chainstay snapped off(carbon frame Scott Spark 30).Totally depressed as I envisaged having to remove the chainstay and sent it over to the UK for repairs and possibly 2 weeks without my only mountainbike.
Was talking to Dave Walsh from Tralee next day and he told me of a guy in Faranfore who had done repairs to Carbon frames for members of the Tri club back in tralee.Got his contact details and took my frame back to him yesterday morning(Sat). Its now Sun evening and I have just arrived home with my frame, full repaired with no visable evidence of any of the work done.Not saying what I was charged,but I could possibly spend more when I go for my few regular pints tonight.
This guy, Alan o Rioadain, is an absolute gent to deal with and though I am fully aware that the repair still has to be trail tested, his obvious pride in his work leaves me in little doubt that it will stand up.
His main line is manufacturing bespoke custom Surfboards but he says he can carry out repairs to practially anything carbonfibre or fibreglass.Anyone in trouble with a frame should talk to him before shipping to the uk.

We have a guy here on the east coast as well, he repaired my bike and a good few others at this stage, all going strong as far as I know. There is definitely no need to be sending stuff to UK

Have you a contact no for the guy on the east coast?
My rearstay received impact from a thrown up stone, both
front and back lacquer has chipped.....leading me to believe
the carbon maybe affected also.
I removed the rear wheel and squeezed in the stays, there's
no abnormal movement or weakness.
Not sure if I can ride it in this state??
Any advice people??

Stick up a picture and we'll have a look. I'm sure plenty of lads have advice.... wether its good advice is another thing though.

But anyway, the guy who done my and Max's frame is Frank Casey.... 087 // 272 1241. He's based in Ardclough near Straffan Co Kildare.

Frank is a great guy, he also fixed several other frames since he fixed mine and they are all going strong (XC racing bikes).

This is damage the front (impact) and back of left rearstay!

Tap it around and where the damage is and if it's sounds different then it's cracked. Either way, he'll sand it down, drill small holes where the crack ends (if there is one) and put a carbon bandage around it. It'll be as strong (or stronger) as new.

Today the postman brought a repaired XO carbon cage that was fixed by Alan O'Riordan. The man is a genius.
