Anyone know where i might get my hands on a shim that will convert my 28.6 bars to work with an OS 31.8 stem?
Looked on the internerd but nothing with that conversion that i could see!
wouldn't put a shim there myself, used one for a seat post before and it kept slipping, non fatal with a seatpost
I put marzochi shims on my bars and within 10 minutes in bree i met a tree,the bars had moved around in the shims and i cudnt reach the levers,scary stuff.
Ye, it's a friggin weird Azonic one, that makes no sense at all! You're right lads, gonna just buy new handlebars instead. Don't feel too safe using a shim, especially since it's for the jump bike. Not after seeing gav's pic!!!

I have marzocchi shims on my xc bike and had them on my dh bike. I've had bad bad crashes but have never had the bars move on me. I've broken lever but never moved my bars. shims seem to be hard to find though
those bars are to work with a specific stem. Nothing wrong with shims if used correctly and no amount of dodgy shims would have changed or caused Gav face planting.
Best bet for you keith is to get the matching stem or get new bars.
I know this is my own fault. But by my reckoning if you were just to use the bare metal from a coke can you would need thirty two wraps, believe it or not.
Thats based on the latest light weight cans which have been stripped completely of all coatings.
But, what is the thickness of the various coats of paint and protective coatings on the inside of the can? :confused:

I can (ha ha) make ya a shim in aluminum if you promise not to remember it was me that made it after it slips and wrecks your head, although with most brain injuries memory is a bit fuzzy :)
