How d'you clean a Shimano freewheel?

Jeez I am sitting here drooling over that Morewood Zula for sale, it is 'bike porn' at it's best.

Anyways, over the last few spins my bike has sort of turned into a fixie! I took the cluster off tonight and I find that the freewheel (part of the hub) is well gunged up.

Any advices on how to clean the freewheel - do I take the axle out, etc? It's new ground for me.

If its new ground, I'd stay away from it!

You could always buy the bike off me Greg and then you really would be able to drool all over it, literally!!!

I think I remember a great legend of irish mountain biking using his toothbrush and a can of lynx to clean one....

excuse me that was a Mavic Freehub and i have done many things I am very proud of !
