29'er Test !

Great Blog Ritchie. I was contemplating the 29er Anthem myself a while back (have the 26er now for 6years and love it) as a number of my good mates in SA have gone 29er and swear by them. However, they all race 4-5 day stage events 100km+ marathon stuff, (ala cape epic, karoo to Coast, Argus mtb etc) not sure a short, heavy, granny gear user like myself needs it, so decided to pop some upgrades on the current bike. However, Cape epic 2014 is a goal so will be very interested to see your continued review. Hopefully by then I wont be using GG as much.

Would love to try a 29er are they more suited to taller lads Ritchie? Is there a demo bike for a whirl?

I don't know, Steve Pollock rides one and he flies along, you can Demo the Anthem 29'er in the shop, you basically put it on your Credit Card then we credit it back to you when you return it.
I think they are the future of XC racing, whether we like it or not !

I think the comments are bang on about where the 29er is real good, climbing, flat, tech stuff, tech hills, rolls great over most thing but the really steep & slow techy type decents are well sketchy with a good chance of an o.t.b. experience unless to keep your butt back, otherwise great bikes if you can get good tyres, would help a lot of less skilled riders do better. Not using any mtb at the moment but but i usually take the 29er before the epic
