I was just wondering what is the best clipless mountain biking shoe, without breaking the bank.

Shimano shoes tend to be the favourite - don't buy on line as sizes are smaller than expected - you need to try them on .

Go to Richie in cyclesuperstore or Alfie in expert cycles
Budget €100 - 130 for shoes that take a huge amount of abuse and you should get 2 years out of them..

I may be shot for this -but consider overshoes also- €30 approx for winter/ mud riding and you prolong your shoe life

No. Use separate flat pedals! they take 2 mins to change and no pedals do both well.
