Popliteus Muscle

Have a very sore muscle at the back of the lhs knee (slightly to the right of the back)
never had it before
seems to be described as the Popliteus muscle..,.
anyone ever experienced this particular strain -cause? / remedies?

Saddle was raised higher recently - wonder if anyone has experienced this from legs being stretched out too much than before?

am I dying?
Just rest it, drop the saddle back to where it was and see if that goes away, then you'll know.
Popliteus Muscle

Didn't think there was muscle behind knee, go to a physio if it's not better in a few days, defo rest it, take anti inflammatory too
Ice it on the hour every hour. Cold is far better than anti inflammatory and this is from a man who used to promote Difene.

no, pressure massaged the muscle to release the spasm,..

Looks like incorrect seat height is the cause, which results in pain behind the knee
(to low = pain at front of knee)
According to youtube research, measure inseam leg length and multiply by .889
that will give you the inch length from centre of bb to top of saddle
I did the measurements and looks like my saddle was an inch higher than it should be

I'd take that with a large grain of salt Rob ..... lots of alternative theories on the web too!! The important thing is that your knee should still have a small bend in it at the bottom of the pedal stroke and your hips shouldn't be rocking! I know it's hard to justify it but a "bike fit" will cost a lot less than a series of visits to a physio or even a surgeon!
seat height and bike fit is a very exact science..I'm waiting on a Wattbike from Giant , its modified to be the pinnacle in bike fitting. Once I get it all EPIC members can avail of a free session. I've done so many different training programs in bike fitting at this stage, the only thing I can safely state is get a proper fit from an expert in it. Seriously there are so many different interpretations of bike fitting that in fact only somebody like me or the guys in Lifecycle with the training and experience can actually show you the right fit. a lot of people out there with the wrong size bike, the wrong length stem. It only takes as much as a degree either way can cause damage.
Plus people think they can just buy a bike and ride it ..this is not the case, everybody should get the proper training on a bike when they buy one. I mean basic instruction on how to get the best out of your bike and gear.
A lot of people working in bike shops have very limited experience riding with people of different abilities and can only advise a very small slice of the bicycling community. So when you buy a bike talk to an actual rider. Get fitted by an actual Coach, apart from Lifecycles to the best of my knowledge, thats me, Alfie and Stewart Carr actually working in bike shops.
