I need to replace a cable and looking at the shifter pod there are a few tiny screws on the underside, do I need to remove this to open her up. They look seriously small. When I unscrew those what then? There are the pods that can change gears by pushing or pulling (on the 2008 Trance X1).
shift into the highest gear then remove the plastic screw cap on the pod (its a plastic black cap and only takes 1 rotation to come off so mind u dont lose it). u should be able to see the cap on the end of the cable. then simply push the cable from the other side of the shifter and you should be able to pull the rest of the cable out.
Beeutifull baby, I never would have found those little screws, is this screw cap on the top or bottom of the pod? It was dark when I was looking at this.
you shouldn't have to take the cap off unless the cables jammed. if you just put it into the hardest gear and push the cable through it should just slide through. then slide the new one in.
have a look at the side of the pod near where the trigers are sprouting from. There should be a round cap like the one morgan pictured above. Remove and slide the cable out. Stay well clear from the little screws unless u want to end up with a shifter in loads of pieces and being demented putting it back together.

Stall the ball, I've changed many a cable, but only on the old dual control where you undid a screw and popped off the top casing. This whole poke it in through a hole sideways entry is new to me. Working in the dark was a mistake I admit.
