Which Spd's

Hi Folks
Have been a fan of flats for the last year or so but I recently delved into the Clipless world for my trail bike.
I put a set of Eggbeater C peddles on my bike for a try. For the climbs they were great but i encounted a few hairy moments pegging it on the decents. Involuntarily clipping out on jumps or when it got a bit rattley at speed.
Strangly my foot almost never comes off the flats in those circumstances.
Is it me ? the peddles ? my shoes ? (Shimano Md76)
The cleats and peddles are used but not worn very much. At a stand I can not pull my foot directly out and even when I turn on my heal it takes a bit to pull free.
Any recomendations or tips

shimano spds..the rest are fookin stupid..i've been using them since they were invented..10 -15 hours a week..XC,DH..Freeride, you name it..never let me down..thousands of spins hundreds of people..only ever seen eggbeaters fook up and break..
or people using imitation cleats with Shimano pedals !!
and if your foot doesn't come off on flats..then stick with them..
you might also have them too loose..
i have mine tightened to the max..that way I only put the foot down if I'm really feeling my age !!

Thanks Coach
Suspected it was the egg beaters
Which Shimano one's. Cage or no cage?
I'm going to stick with the flats on the DH bike but need all the help i can get climbing on the other.
ive been running those 647 spds on my dh bike and trail bike for a couple of years now and they cant be beaten. as one of the lads said tighten them up when you get used to riding clipped in and you should get on fine. there are versions of the same pedal without the cage but if your gonna be doing drops and jumps better stick with the caged version. hope this helps. mick.
