Any views on the pitch comp, good or bad as an all rounder? thinking about buying and any views would be great.

heres my opnion on buying heavy,full suss long travel machines for spins.
Don't, buy a decent tough hardtail.
You won't get creased pedaling uphill and you will be at your limit on the Downhills and once thats the case you're enjoying yourself.
people go out and buy fancy freeride machines for their first or even 2nd bike.
Spins become grim and hard work for them and they end up jacking it in because its too hard.
The only people who can ride them as all day bikes are savages.
And I mean real savages not ordinary fit people..*******oes !
The best bike for people learning their skills and more importantly to get the best out of either an EPIC Tuesday or a Saturday spin is something like Shonas Giant Terrago or A Kona Hoss or a Blast.
Or one of them Cove hardtails , people can throw in what other hardtail they want here..
Consider the amount of people I have seen on spins and what I've seen work.

I had a Kona Hoss as my first bike.
I have a Pitch Pro ( the model up from the comp but less widely available) which I bought 2nd hand. Unfortunately I havn't ridden it so much due to a problem with the forks so I'm still getting used to it. However when I have ridden it I've been quite happy with it, particularly the way it climbs. My main concern was that it would be too heavy and a pig to climb but so far so good. I know the Comps are well priced which makes it tempting.
Well i just sold a GT XC1 because it was too weak a bike for what i wanted, i bought a xXx banshee which is way too heavy for long spins but a strong as hell go through anything machine, now i would like something in between, i think that would suit me best.
I know i've been out of biking for a while but i used to race downhill back in wales so the downhill part of the spins are what i love but i woild like to ride up the hills too, as for the weight of the Pitch i was told that they are a tad under 30lbs, that has to be good for a full susser? (Plus i like the comfort of a full suss bike)

I'm inclinded to agree with you gazpw, now I believe a touch over 30 lbs but that's not a bad weight at all, if you're aware of what that means.
For the money you're getting one hell of a machine, although they are also getting hard to find now, so jump if you are going to.

Just over 30lbs is still 5lbs lighter than what i'm riding (or should i say pushing alot of the time) now, i do love the banshee, such good value with it's code5's and RS Domain forks etc but it's just not practical.
I found a couple of the pitch comps around so i was going to try and get one this weekend, i might even have a look for a good second hand bike between now and then too.

i'm selling to used car matts to suit a saab 9-5 estate 1200 sounds good to me

Bare in mind there's no lockout front or back on the Pitch. It's a light weight freeride machine and a good peddler for what it is. Great for a couple hours of fun if thats all your after. If your into traversing Wicklow every weekend definatly a hard tail or shorter travel bike.

That Canondale Mac the Knife is selling would be well worth a look. Would build up better spec too for the money your thinking of spending. great allrounder
not a big fan of the pitch, its the only specialized ive ever ridden that i didn't like. It has wierd geometry felt like the bb was too far back and i wanted to pedal with my heels instead of the balls of my feet and all my weight being thrown forwards aswell. Not very comfy atall. It was also quite heavy well the one i rode was anyway. Id look at a giant trance a much better machien. Lighter better at pedalling up hill and loads of fun on the way down.
actually what am i thinking of..buy a KTM prowler great value and lovely colours !!
