upgrade or renew??

i need a bike for jumping that is light with disc brakes and ok forks. i hav a gt avalanche 2.0 2008 disc and im wondering wheter to spend money upgrading it or to buy a more suitable bike??? any comment/ opinion appreciated.thank you.
