Road Wheels for Giant XTC

Hi, I'm looking at getting a set of spare wheels and tyres for my Bike so I can follow the missus around the roads in Lusk. Can anyone suggest/have a set I should/can buy....and I know I'm opening myself up for jip here now, so just fire away!!!

If you really want road wheels you can get 700c rims built onto an MTB hub. 26" tyres aren't available below 1.25" width, as far as I know.

Anything with a Deore-upwards hub and slicks (Michelin Transworld Cities, Maxxis Hookworm, Schwalbe Hurricanes or whatever) would do the job fine. Rim won't matter hugely if you're staying on the road, unless you're comparing weights - depends on your budget ultimately.

Probably pick up something cheap on ebay?

Someone came into the shop I work in with 1" tyres as far as I remember, dont know where he got them from tho...

Thanks for the advice lads, I like the look of those tyres Stein, might get them and put them on my existing wheels. Now have to find a nice set of wheels to put my old tyres onto!

i have a pair of tioga city slickers 26x1 tyres ,hardly used ,yours if you want

I used to use specialized fat boys years ago. I think they're still available, just stick them at 100psi and they are amazing. even in the wet these things just keep grabbing.

This is your fault, you have so taken your eye off the ball. Shaving legs, pissing in bib tights, road wheels for your MTB? I was going to add some additional ridiculous ones for illustration purposes but I could top that list.

It's the fault of the club race, people who would have been far happier launching themselves off big mountains are now covered in lycra, bars covered in timing devices and GPS, running absurd PSI and shaving everything in sight, not just themselves. Am I the only one left wearing baggies? The BLAST better re-align everything with a return to grass roots mayhem.

I was just thinking to myself..that theres only 6 Club Races left..then its definitely back to big Mountain madness..
