It's driving me bloody mad, I am prepared to receive much ridicule and cod-acting comments if one of them turns out to work
my upstairs sink gurgles like I don't know what, and I've pulled-out the u-bend section and fully cleaned it out (there was some awful looking stuff in it altogether) but that didn't sort it, I've plungered the feck out of it too,
- what now? could it be partially blocked further down? what'll shift the blockage? explosive? shouting at it? Alien-blood?
Does it gurgle all the time? Has it always done this? Or only when a toilet is flushed? Is the sink waste plumbed into your toilet waste pipe? I ask as a flush may try to pull the water out of your trap (due to the pressure change), and you may need an air admittance valve on the waste pipe to prevent this.
This could be my one and only sensible post. Don't worry, I'll make up for it.
Does it gurgle all the time? just when water runs down the sink - small bit of water = no gurgles, but run the tap for over 5 secs = gurgle
Has it always done this? no - just in past few months
Or only when a toilet is flushed? - has no effect on it
Is the sink waste plumbed into your toilet waste pipe? not sure - I'd need to pull stuff apart to check this I think
wow - this is great - no guff so far, I wonder how long it can last.....
You have two options. Maybe it's due to the rotation of the water as it flows down the pipe, to test this you will need to dismantle the sink, take it to Australia and try it there.
it's just a partial blockage, and the air in there cant get out, so it comes back up... hence the gurgling....
I have a rodding type thing for unblocking small diameter pipes. will bring it to the club race.

Hmmm, the race followed by a free colonic irrigation courtesy of Stewart at the pub, that poor bargirl, as if she wasn't traumatised enough.
thanks Stewart
I'll refrain from telling my good lady that I'm off up the forests for a vicious ride followed by a rodding on Thurs eve - the context would be lost on her....
if you stick your head in the sink and roar
"RIDER UP"
That will shift the blockage.
sometimes you have to wait a while, else try saying "on your left"
that often fools them too.
otherwise get Brendan to do it for you.
