Revelation 409-426???

CRC have 2009 Revelation 409's for €297, whats the difference between these and the 426 ones? Enlightenment would be appreciated.

Gmac is the one you need to talk to. I have the 426's and they are deadly. Uturn is handy too. I always thought 409's had a spring... maybe I am wrong.
My 426's are for sale.... come with a free cannondale...

Weight I think. The 429's have an alloy steerer and crown, so are a bit lighter.

I have the 409 and it has no u-turn, it has alloy steerer and is dual air, both are 140mm if you can live with a normal QR they are a great fork, too long for your bike though mate i think. Take a look here and you can see whats the difference.

Well if the 409's are too long for my Giant XTC frame, what would be a suitable upgrade from the crap Dart 2 that came with it?

Be careful though, these ones are post mount, are your brakes? if they are different, it adds more cost. might be a cheaper alternative to change your bike. 2010 models are now out, so some old stock bargians knocking about.
Or just keep an eye out for secondhand forks... €100 should see a pair of rebas/recons or similar. stick up a "Wanted 100mm fork" post and see what comes back......

Brian - I think if you start to upgrade your bike you will end up spending a lot of money - forks, cranks, brakes etc and still you will have a heavy frame? You might be better selling your bike as it is and buying something second hand with better spec! Alfie was selling a nice Rocky Mountain - don't know whether it's still available?

All the new rockshox reba . revalation . pike use same technology very easy to service.I dont think your giant would like anything over 110mm so its Rebas.Revalations would be heavier and wasted travel not used.

You could always get the Dual air revelations and shorten the travel on them internally, and it will leave you the option of moving them back up to 140mm when you undoubtedly change your frame in the future.

Dual Air revelations will only be a little heavier than a set of Rebas.

2010 Revelations (And Rebas I think) are coming with a new damper technology called black box or some other equally fantastic name to replace the now supposedly out dated motion control damper.
might be worth thinking about if you want the latest and greatest.


The 2010 recon is effectively last years revelation and looks the best value fork in their range now.
