[Want] Entry level hard-tail

Hi everyone,

After spending a fantastic week on a mountain biking course in Italy over the summer I have acquired an interest in this here fine sport. So I'm looking to get a hold of a decent second-hand hard-tail to get me started. I'm roughly 5'10 which is about a medium if I'm not mistaken. My budget is around the EUR 500 mark. I'm living in Dublin and have plenty of free time at the moment to drop over to see bikes.

Once I have a bike I'd like to join an entry level ride. I'll keep an eye on the forums to see what's on. I reckon that I would be able for something a little more intermediate if it weren't for the fact that mountain biking in the Italian Alps in the height of summer lacks one very important feature - rain. Probably best not to get ahead of my self just yet

Mark - if you can afford to pay the extra few Euro buy Karlos's Cotic. It's great value and should give you years of service - I don't think you could go wrong!

once you get a bike let us know. There are intro spins on every month. If you like us, then you get members access and theres loads to choose from , theres 2 spins on Tuesdays and Thursday ( 1 for the craic and 1 for the training) and theres a relaxed Saturday spin and a advanced Sunday spin.

Hold on a minute..
That Giant brass is not suitable for EPIC spins. Its a jump bike not a bike for going on spins, unless you like cycling with your knees up around your head.
People need to use good judgement when trying to sell bikes to Beginners and Newbies.
a 20" frame is probably suitable for a 6' 4" individual..at 5' 10" you need a 17 or 18" bike.
Theres nothing wrong with Karls bike, it would keep you going forever, if you don't want to buy it, look for a well looked after Rockhopper or a Giant XTC aluminium.
My advice to you is go to a bike shop and talk to experts..And I mean experts.
They are the best style of bikes for going on spins and learning your skills on.
