Avid Ultimate brake leak

My Joosy so called 'Ultimates' seem to have a quare looking little hole in the top plate, and when I pull the brakes - brake fluid flows out - isn't that just amazing?
what's the story here?
has some fiend been drilling holes in my brakes or is that hole supposed to be there?

i'm coming to the conclusion that shimano and hopes are the only disc brakes in town..all the others are just feckin peculiar!!

Fergal, those holes are there to help you go faster. Very clever design feature.

Electrical tape over them?
