Wanted - a freestanding finish line arch

EPIC need some sort of finish line frame. You get the idea..can anybody build such a thing ? Nothing too fancy. just a square frame with space for a Banner on the top.

What do you want it made out of? Wood / aluminium / steel?

Do you want it to be demountable for re use?

Would fire road width be the kind of clearance required between each side?

Won't be able to help on the aluminium one, I can do wooden stuff but I have no welding gear.

hmm...no I really want aluminium .

Well i can sketch a design with dimensions etc.
It would be possible to put one together using aluminium circular tubes and some kind of cleats / sleeves to bolt it together.
This would be the solution without welding

Does anyone have any old scaffolding or know where they can get some, that would do the job perfect, you could have a weighted box each side for stability and single sections of scaffold up the sides and across for the arch. Hang your banner across the top, job done.

Even better, some frame work off an old pollytunnel, lighter than scaf and already has the arch shapes.

The galvanised tubing that is used for edge barriers on sites would probably be quite good also. I will call a few places tomorrow, or does anybody on here have any available.

Richie, Tripod works for an aluminium scaffolding company. he is your best bet.

I think people make these things, off the shelf sort of thing..... (Sham ?)

Anyway...
I can get anything from the most simple to the most complicated thing you can imagine made, the thing is you need to be able to transport it around so everything has to break down into 1.5m lengths max.

Keeping it simple....

2 heavy wall vertical tubes with points to attach guy wires and base plates with holes (to bang pins through)

1 panel (with banner on it) that slides down onto above tubes

Stand it up, bang in guy wires, bingo bongo...

I can sketch it up and price it if you're interested.

I won't beat those prices.... that system with additional guy wires would be perfect I'd say.

they're too cheap looking i would prefer the top piece ok and the side panels to match and then guide wires..so it would look like a trellis at the top and the sides.
I am expecting it to cost a fair bit.
does that make it easier ? I don't need it till July by the way,
