Help please: Chainring Replacement?

sounds weird, if its brand new it just needs a tune up.but if the ring is old u need a new one.unless its just the cranks that are new.........

The chainset is new, but the outer ring I think is old, got the bike second hand and im fixing it up.

Have changed most of the things that could cause the gears to slip (chain; cassette; freehub body), and did work, now the gears slip only in the outer ring.

Want to change it but can't find any from the same brand, want to buy it but I am not sure if any 4 bolt chainring will fit in.

maybe and this is just a big maybe..the original owner of the bike ground the outer ring down grinding over rocks as if it was a bash ring..maybe !

What do you mean Mario - where is the chain slipping?
If I am going up hill or get enough pressure in the pedals the gear is slipping if I am in the outer chainring, don't happen in the middle one (new).

It's my commuter bike (I hope will be) 700cc wheels, think it's only old chainring, this bike haven't been of road.

Now, I think if it's not happening in the middle, and all the other bits are new, the only thing left to change is the outer, but I can only find other brands selling spare chainrings, is it standard so any 4bolt chainring will fit in the cranks?

Unless that outer ring is extremely badly damaged it shouldn't cause chain to slip. You're probably on the wrong ring on the back, i.e. chain is running at an angle across cassette, or possibly chain length is incorrect. Sounds like you need to bring it to a bike shop!!!
