OK, I know this subject is like groundhog day, but it is clunking again after only a few weeks. Is it possible the problem is not with the bush but with the steel yoke the bush slides into? Or something else? It shouldn't be failing so frequently.

Hey Don... if its going that quickly I suggest you replace the shock hardware (the aluminium spacers that sit into the DU bush).. these parts can wear out too.. especially if you ride the bike with a worn DU bush.. the rattling and vibrations will eventually wear down the soft aluminium..

The DU bush went in my brand new Rize only two weeks after buying it.. I changed the bush but it went soon afterwards... brought it back to the shop and the problem turned out to be with the mounting hardware and not the bush... its been over a year now since the shock hardware (mount kit) was replaced and I've had no trouble at all..

Cheers Gerry, I was hoping it may be something like that, got over a year out of the first bush and they've been going every couple of months since then.

yeah the aluminum in the mounting hardware is now scored so it eats into the bush. Its time to replace the two
like mac suggested go for tf tuned. they do 2 versions, normal and heavy duty.

What would happen if you replaced the aluminium bushes that slide into the DU bush with stainless steel ones?
Is there a reason they are aluminium and not stainless steel?
If the DU bush is the "consumable" component then surely you would want everything else to be strong and hard wearing.

they tend to use alloy 2piece ones on xc bikes and stainless 1 piece on dh/freeride bikes. The stainless one piece ones are heavier and less likely to bend the bolt that runs through it. There not really any more hardwearing than the alloy ones. Only really necessary on bikes that are taking a proper hammering
Fitted my uprated DU bush and hardware from TF Tuned yesterday,will see if it lasts longer than the standard stuff,which was 6 months.
