New Reba SL's - Pump Advice

Hi,
I'm a newbie here so go easy on me. Just got some new Reba SL's to replace my old forks. Just wondering do I need to go and buy a specific shock pump or will a track pump do for setting the air pressure??:confused:
Also, is there anything else I should be aware of when fitting the forks??

No question.. you need a shock pump.. any other pump will not work.. I doubt a track pump will even fit on a fork..

Also, a shock pump is much more sensitive and can fine tune your forks to within 1-2 PSI.. you will not be able to do this with a track pump at all..

Yes... when cutting your steerer... measure twice.. cut once.. in other words make sure you set it up correctly with your stem and headset spacers etc etc before you cut the steerer.. check and double check that everything is the way you want it... only then should you make the cut..

If its too long then no worries.. add a spacer in or just trim it down to size... if you cut it too short... it'll cost about €250 to fix it..!!

Funny .... my Rebas came with a shock pump in the box!

so did mine..somebody tried to pump theirs up with a Forecourt air line..didn't they ? was it Smithers ? and if you are cutting your steerer..use an old stem to help you measure it and to get the cut straight !!

or bring it to the shop for the first time if you dont fell you can do it right.
you dont wanna cut it too short and the star nut will have to be fitted properly.

Got mine new from merlin, should they have come with a pump?? If they should I'll get on to them.

Not only should you have gotten a shock pump but you should also have a Poploc or Pushloc too.. these are expensive (Pushloc is €100) to pick up so check it out while your at it..

I got the Poploc, but no pump. I'll get on to Merlin & see what they come back with.

Got on to Merlin & they said no pump included, so will have to pick one up elsewhere.
Another silly question, I assume the fork steerer would have to be cut to different lengths to fit different frames?? The thing is, I was also thinking about a frame upgrade soon, would I be better off saving the new forks until I get the new frame, don't want to cut them to fit existing frame only to find the steerer tube is too short for any new frame I might get.

Buy a bunch of head set spacers and cut it long for now so unless you know what frame your going to buy.
