Have a crack/ dent in the sloping tube which doesn't appear to go right through the tube but there is a lot of weakness / flex at the point of damage
does anyone have any advice on possibilities of repairing carbon fibre frames?
I wouldn't even try to fix a carbon frame, take a look at the Specialized crash replacement program, you could probably pick up a front end or a new frame at a reduced price.
Carbon is made up of interwoven layers, once they're broken they're broken, they can't be fixed.
You could possibly "patch" it but you would really want to know what you're doing, you would need something that would fit around the entire tube that you could bond in place.
You could never trust the frame again and it could leave you with a long walk home or worse.
I'd say the fishing rod repair kit will work for superficial damage / surface damage.
I agree with Colin! A frame failure on any one of the technical trails we ride regularly could lead to a really nasty accident! Sure look what happened to you yesterday .... and that was in a "development" race! I know it's easy for me to say when it's not my frame but .....

John o reilly did a fantastic job repairing an old XTC frame..when he was finished you could barely see the repair job !!
in the dark from about 20miles away !!
ANyway old ladies..I thought we were talking about cosmetic damage ? still, I'd repair mine if it wasn't at a joint..I've worn a tiny hole in my right chainstay...you can't see it anymore since I covered it in duct tape..

I heard from Micky this evening about the scheme - Mccluskey got a new frame under the scheme
Will call them tomorrow to see if i can avail
found 3 companies - 2 in US and 1 in Uk that specialise in carbon frame repairs
I'm checking prices for a repair and will post what i find out
