It's an amazing bike and was rated the best beginners bike by What Mountain Bike at 5 star and the Merlin Malt was rated 2half star!! Hope this helps you mate

No....there all shi-t. Tell him to cop on to himself and get something from proper bike manufacture... Specialized,Giant,Lappiere,Trek all have proper stuff for around that sort of cash!
I had a Merlin Malt 2 back in the day and could not fault it, bombproof frame and spec and at the time highly rated for the money. As an intro bike your pal could do a lot worse.

any spec or photos on that fury foe sale
