Anyone have the scoop on these? I like the sound of the new Kashima coated stanchions, 4 times harder than anodised so may address the stanchion wear issue associated with most Fox forks, but what about reliability? I believe OC have to invest in expensive new gear to service FIT forks. If standard forks are â¬90 a year to service, what is FIT going to cost to keep ship shape?

The stanchion wear issue on Fox forks (or any fork for that matter) has nothing to do with fancy coatings or the likes... its about basic maintenance... the stanchions and seal areas on all forks must be kept clean.. if you leave dirt and grime build up around the seal / stanchion interface the coating (any coating) will eventually wear out.. you might as well be using grinding paste on them..
I recently overhauled a pair of Titanium coated Rockshox.. the Titanium coating had completely worn off all around the seal area and in the lower bushings.. purely from lack of maintenance - nothing more - nothing less..
I have owned Fox, Manitou and Rockshox over the years and have never ever ever had the stanchion coating wear off any of them ever.. because I look after them & keep them clean..
And one last point.. I don't think â¬90 a year is a lot to keep a top of the range fork working.. sure its only the guts of two tubeless tyres.. considering decent forks cost on average â¬500+ I don't think its too much to ask to dish out â¬90 a year to maintain them.. and if you do then they will last for many years instead of having to replace them annually which will end up costing you a hell of a lot more..

I agree, but will they be â¬90 given that the FITs are not like other Fox forks when it comes to maintaining them? I suspect they are called FITs as that is what you have when you see the bill.

James should have the kit to service the FIT forks already Don, after all he has been servicing FOX40's and 36's with the FIT 2 cartridge in them for a couple of years now.
From what i've read the coating on the stantions is just better for helping reduce stiction, which has been a problem on Fox forks for years

clean and inspect dust wipers every 15 hours.
inspect dropout thickness, inspect bushings, change oil. change FLOAT fluid in air chamber every 100 hours.
Magura service instructions:
"The forks require little maintenance due to its oil lubrication. They
only need once a year a service"
