Can someone recommend a good bike for 1k lads. He is looking for a hardtail and is only getting into XC. I'm trying to get him to join one of the clubs down there. He is based in Cork, but does come up to Dublin occasionally.
To even consider buying a GT from Halfords instead of a Stevens because of an integrated headset is nuts!! Saw the Stevens at the MAD NPS and it looks like incredible value!

I've been using an integrated headset for as long as I can remember and as somebody who rides **** till it dies and then replaces it..thats nonsense..I've replaced 2 integrated headsets in 2 years on a Carbon bike,no play , no creaking !! Don't be mind that ****e talk !!
Less reading of drivel and more riding your bike..everybody has to replace their frames at some stage..
If people want advice on bikes or bike related stuff, ask somebody who actually rides their bike and who might even do it for a living, not over regurgitated tripe of the Intergeekweb..
I don't like this kind of alarmist marketing appearing on our site..it just adds to the drivel already floating around out there !

And you should listen to Richie instead of getting smart with him... he's been riding MTB longer than you've been alive.... if he can't break it then no one will..
