Straightening a Rotor

Any tips?

get a rotor straightener..I have one.
you know where to find me !!!

Are you serious? Does such a yoke exist?

Just going at it with a pliers won't do eh?

indeed it does and i have managed to keep my ancient " Homos" Disc going because of it..
People have this mythology going about me that i only use rocks to fix my bike..thats just rumours put around by Cyclocrossers and homophobes to discredit me..I am a Bicycle Scientist..i even have a white labcoat somewhere !!

There are specific disk straightening tools available but you can just use an ordinary adjustable spanner... try find the 'high spot' of the bend - I use chalk to give me a general idea where it is... close the jaws nice and tight on the rotor... bend it firmly, slowly and in small increments, check it each time so you don't over do it.. you'll be surprised how easy it is to straighten..

Oh and clean the spanner first just in case there is oil or grease on it.. you don't want oil on your rotor..

Yeah... but he uses that to clean his bike...!!

I've got it straightish with the spanner.

Richie I'll be up to you for that yoke if I need to get it even more straighterer.

Turns out the rotor is only half the problem. The caliper needs a bit of a shimming as well.

I'm impressing, even myself, with all this.

And not a 'bender' joke to be seen, I'm impressed.
