Second Hand Bike Case (Hard Case) Wanted !

Hi all,

Need to buy either a new or second hand bike case (Hard Case), to enable me to bring my pride and joys via air freight. From seeing the way luggage is handled in airports I want to invest in a good quality case to protect the collection;D

While cycle superstore has it's own branded bike case for 275 Euro, http://www.cyclesuperstore.ie/shop/p...yword=bike+box. But I think it will only work for road biks and NOT a full sus from the details on cycle superstore:confused:

Ideally I'll use it for a full sus, large frame Lapierre X-control Carbon frame.... and the odd time for a road bike, large frame.

So if anyone is selling a hard case that they are not using enough to justify it's existance or is taking up too much room let me know. Also open to other bike case suggestions from the "pro travellers".would be great...:)

Worth checking the weight of the case first - a lot of the airlines are imposing weight limits on bikes these days and the hard cases can weigh most of the limit when they're empty!!

Bloody airlines, if they check the weight I'd be screwed so. Have to rethink this one. But nothing like riding your own bike abroad. Bike hire can be hit and miss!

Current situation is
Aer Lingus limit on a bike is 15kg but they don't check the weight, Ryanair limit is 20kg but they do check the weight.

However aer lingus may weigh your bikebag (on the way back) but not charge for excess. I was told (by fellow mtber) that all air lines have a limit of 32kgs on a single item of luggage and they won't allow a bag over that weight on board. I never confirmed this info.
