I bought a pair of new 1.9 Ignitors very reasonably, thinking that they'd be a similar width to the 2.0 Michellins I was using! They appear to be quite a bit narrower. I was going to put them on the training bike for the mid-week winter spins - so wet, mucky conditions likely! What practical difference will the width make - will I even notice?
Maxxix Ignitors 1.9 - LUST
Ignitors are kind of narrow for their width alright, my 2.3's are like 2.1's. Stick one on the back, I'd be looking for something a bit more aggressive for the front though. I'm not such a fan of Ignitors on the front for winter, a bit too round shouldered so not as much grip on the off camber stuff. Toros/Bulldogs on the front, Ignitor on the back, happy days.
I was having 1.9 on the rear, change to 2.1 five months ago, after that I cut the 2.1, three days training before the Nationals, had to put again the 1.9.
What I have to say, you fell the difference. Changing from 1.9 to the 2.1, I fell the rear much more stable. I enjoy the 2.1 on the back, it was perfect. Changing back to the 1.9 has been a long process. The 1.9 is always slipping, when brake a little bit hard the tires normally slides, last club race was happening a lot, even passing roots, if the speed isn’t so much the tire as tendency to slide, in places were the 2.1 didn’t. So the grip isn’t much, I believe around -30%

Of course you don’t make so much effort with the 1.9, but in my opinion and regarding the type of trails that we ride no point change it just for getting more speed/less effort.
Overall - I have to buy a new 2.1 as soon as possible.
