Reccomend me some tyres?

Hey,

Firstly sorry for what I'm sure is a bit of a gimp question but I need the help and advice of those far more in the know than I am.

Currently I am running a set of Pannaracer tyres 2.1 (front & back) on my Trek Fuel EX8

Since that photo was take a couple of months back the center threads has visibly worn down on the back tyre so I reckon I need to change them if I am to have a fighting chance at keeping traction through the winter.

I was looking at CRC and am a bit clueless about the pros & cos of each tyre, I know Maxxis are pretty decent but which ones?

I plan on doing a bit of everything on the bike but mostly XC, I want to run them tubeless and the weight of any such tyre doesn't really matter as I'm a bit of a fatty so easier me loose a Kg or two before I start counting the grams my tyres weigh.

I would really appreciate some recommendations and should I consider a 2.1 on the back and something a bit wider up front.

Cheers,

Adrian
jesus ****in christ !!! not again !!! every freakin month some goober gets his knickers in a twist about tyres!!..
go on i dare you to do search for Tyres on this forum..!!
Wheres Don ?
Ah Richie,

Are you like the auld dog my folks used to have who isn't happy unless he is barking ;D? And sure I wouldn't be a goober if I didn't ask such questions, at least I'm going tubeless surely that deserves some leeway.

So baring any one says otherwise I'm going to get Maxxis Ignitor's XC 2.1 is there any merit to the 2.35 on the front?

Cheers again,

A
go on do a search..you'll be trapped under an avalanche of tyre recommendations..
and everybody will tell you 2.1 ignitors are too narrow..
they are perfect for xc racing..
i use 2.3s on the front of my xc racing bike and 2.5 on everything else..
What he says adrian. Or 2.3 torro's. They are expensive though probably overpriced for the life you get from them
i have 2.2 Maxxis Cross marks on my KTM..a fine set of tyres..trust me, you can't beat maxxis..i've used Schwalbes lately and they can't take the rocks and ****..
I've used 2.1 High rollers too and they were deadly..
Hers my input, I was king goober last year!! I have used Conti Mountain kings 2.2 all last winter and still using the front no puntures and great traction.

I also use Swabble nobby nic's 2.1 great on the front but get rips and tears in the side wall, never puntured with them but dont give you much confidance when your heading out for a spin and the side wall looks split.

I am only new to the ignitors 2.1 and find them good.

S-works front mountain king 2.2 rear Ignitor 2.1

Rush front swabble nobby nic 2.1 rear ignitor 2.1

XTC front swabble rocket ron 2.1 rear swabble racing ralph 2.1

I also run the swabble rocket ron on the front and find it very good. to be honest if you look through the forum you will have a headache from the suggestions my advice Ignitors2.1 front and rear for this time of year you wont go wrong. James in OC Tuning was doing a great deal on them.

Good luck!!!

Before you start, Devilman, feck off!!!!
hey. have for sale almost new set of conti rubber queen 2.2 tyres tubeless version 50e for both. Thnx
Smithers I was feeling sorry for Brens girlfriend Adrian, so i responded otherwise I would have let Don getting hot under the collar about the tyres..
why I come down to where you little people are scrabbling in the muck is beyond me !!
Well Richie I'm truly honored you took pity on me, though I'm not sure how I feel about being called Bren's girlfriend... sure he is a handsome man but he' married with kids don't ya know!

Anyway Maxxis Ignitor's it s and cheers to those for taking the time to reply.

Ah well if I was really serious about going fast I would be hitting the trails with these yokes...

Not sure how that might work out mind you!

i would go for the skinny yoke. savage.

tis all a load of bollocks. I use Michelin 2.0 tubeless. But if ye put a knobbly pair of the cheapest halfords 2.1s Im guessing nobody but experts racers could tell the difference in a wet slippy forest.

you're dead right there ! and the experts can ride wet slippy roots on any tyre..fretting about tyres when you are not a serious racer is a complete waste of time..punctures are caused by sloppy riding and wore out tyres !
I had a 2.8 michelin on the DH bike for a long time...feckin awesome !!!
I also used to race 1.5 Continentals back in the olden times !! I just like fat tyres..

its hard to justify the price of a 30 - 40 euro hoop . I dont think duel compound or any of the rest of hype stands up when you hit a sloppy wooden ramp with a cold tire. If so people , educate me.

I just got a set of Michelin country mud for 20 pound delivered on ebay. They are skinny. I took off the tubeless expensive ones and put these cheap ones on.

I fall off the same amount and still have a heart attack from exhaustion 30 mins into the ride LOL. Nothing has changed !!
I know there are more than a few of us that expect the best from tires. Im not that advanced. I cant tell the difference. its all muddy, slippy and horrible!
