Trance x4

Hi lads I'm thinking of buying a giant trance x4,
The new model.


Any thoughts? Any one got one? Good? Bad?
Stay away? Other options?

You won't find many people have a bad word to say about the Trance, I have a 2008 X1, frame is unchanged I think. Bottom line is they a VERY good. The only hassle I have had with mine are worn DU bushes and they are designed to wear and cheap and easy to replace.

As an all day bike they tick all the boxes, and with a few upgrades (wheels and forks) they are a savage DH machine too.

There are a lot good 5 inch bikes now so you are spoilt for choice, but you won't be disappointed with the Trance.

I have an 09 Trance X4 and I can't fault it, had so many good spins on it, never had any issues with it.

I think the new model has a slacker head angle which will make it even better on the steep stuff, the other thing is that the 2011 comes with a giant own brand rear shock, I personally wouldn't go near that and would avoid the bike on that basis, on the other hand you could buy the bike through OC tuning and get him to stick a Fox one on it.

As Don says the DUs do wear, but I never had a problem with mine until the pivot bearings got a bit old and as these didn't work as effectively then it put more load on the du bush which caused that to wear faster.

The only thing I would say about the 2011 Giant Trances is that they don't seem to be as good value as they used to be, you might get a better spec'd bike from another manufacturer, other than that I would check out the Specialized Camber.

I think the massive popularity of the Trance from 2007 to 2010 has caused giant to overprice them a bit for what you get, not saying they are not a great bike to ride just that you could get more bike for the price elsewhere.

Thanks for the link on the trek fuel. I was over in the cycle inn today looking at a few bikes. They had a 2010 trance and the new 2011 trek fuel ex. I have to say the trek looks very nice and feels good too. The fox equipped fuel ex 7, is very tempting.

I have a beautiful RZ140 for sale.. comes with an unregistered warranty card and owners manuals.. its almost mint condition.. fitted with a 2010 Rockshox Revelation Team, carbon cranks, carbon bars, brand new Sun Ringlé Equalizer wheels, mostly brand new X9 drive train, brand new Thomson Elite seatpost... lots of other nice parts too..

Size is a large though.. around a 19"...

Raw aluminium finish, ISCG05 mounts, BB30 compatible bottom bracket (has normal cranks fitted at the moment).. also has a brand new Fox RP23 Boostvalve shock fitted..

Frame is identical to this except with a Fox shock..
